In general I agreed with the guy. He had tried the more moderate route. I also agreed with him here. In this follow-up video we see how TV channels typically present a scene, riddlng it with cliches (rather than bullets!).

I also agreed with Tommy Jordan and disagreed with "Dr Phil" (whatever oracle-like figure he is supposed to be), about the value of public humiliation. Like Mr Jordan, I think it's probably a very effective tool in the box and it's about time we used it more (over, ond only over, properly due cases).

If society takes the wannabe gangster, the self-professed hard man, and cuts him down to size publicly, that may be just the ticket. Reputation matters to people, I think, and public humiliation leaves the reputation for who the person used to be in tatters. It could be called a kind of public penance.

Gavin: I watched Dr Phil's response, and then Mr Jordan's response. I agree with Mr Jordan, but I think Dr Phil's point about escalation was correct. After you've shot your kid's computer, what if the kid calls your bluff and still acts out?
