Christmas 2013
Season's greetings to all those on the forum.
My daughter is still at the age when we can say the word Santa to her with a straight face, so she is an excited little cherub tonight. Looking forward to a relaxing day with family tomorrow.

Re: Christmas 2013
Merry Christmas to you and your family, Mike, and to everyone on the forum!
Must dash - there is a glass of port and a mince pie next to me and both have my name on them!
Best wishes.

Yes, happy Christmas to all! Thanks for all the interesting discussion this year.
Mike, I bet your daughter is excited - I know I was around that age! Charlie, that mince pie and port sounds like a good idea...

Does anybody else genuinely like cheesy Christmas music, or am I on my own here?

I like the Shakin' Stevens - and the Wham! I note Fjordman is also very much into his 80s music! (Amusing tweet by him)

Is Cliff "out" yet?
Anyway, I just watched the Queen's Speech and it struck me that it was far less multicultural than in previous years. There was really no footage of Muslims and others with their alternative cultures in the UK. No, this was was very traditionalist. So I'm thinking perhaps Her Majesty met her breaking point after the Rigby murder and drew the line, saying to all her PC advisors "No. This time I'm going to address my people my way - the old way".
I think the Queen is no fool - probably has a lot more sense and is far more well-meaning and less self-seeking than our politicians.

Merry Christmas, everyone! I made a traditional dinner today and we listened to Classic FM and then heard the Queen's speech. All in all, a pretty good day. I think that out of all the pieces of music we heard today, I particularly enjoyed "Once in Royal David's City":
I hope you all have a lovely evening!
