Ridiculous PC made-up academic roles

Postby Gavin » 30 May 2013, 20:44

I tuned in to BBC Radio 4 for a few seconds today and they had some woman on who was a "Professor of Retail". They said it in all seriousness - treated her with a lot of respect. Professor so-and-so.

It was a while before I realised how silly it was. Can my fellow forum members list here some of the silly titles people are granted, or buy, now? Or at least the subjects they "study". I bet you can find a few.

Anything with "human resources" or "diversity" in the title surely has to be the mother of all such nonsense. People actually go and study HR at university now. What does that entail, four years of watching David Attenborough documentaries on the life cycles of weasels or slimy invertebrates?
