There's a new series on Channel 4 starting this evening filmed in Walthamstow called "Educating the East End". I watched the Essex and Yorkshire versions and found them both interesting, though the East End version will obviously have an extra aspect to it.

Here's another one: a top rural primary school has been downgraded from "outstanding" because "pupils’ cultural development was limited by a “lack of first-hand experience of the diverse make up of modern British society”. In other words, they are too white and English-speaking.

I wonder how many schools have been downgraded for being too black or brown and non-English speaking? Still, at least this school is in Lincolnshire, soon to be known as UKIP-land.
