Thoughts on socialism and leftism generally

UKDP

Please forgive me for such a light-hearted post, but this one amused me too much to not share here.

Recently, the current darling of the Left, Owen Jones, wrote an article saying that what the Left really needed was its own version of UKIP.

Thankfully, a rather pithy commentator was on hand to give Owen a good suggestion:

UKDP - The United Kingdom Dependence Party.

I couldn't help but have a good chuckle at that one.

LOL - that works in several ways, doesn't it? Dependence on Europe and dependence on the state as per the Left.

Owen Jones, well, what can you say. As Gavin said a few days ago, I can almost tolerate Jones as an amusing, adorable idiot. But the idea of him having any authority or influence is quite unnerving. When you compare him to the Leftist intellectuals of yesteryear, even a monster like Hobsbawm, it's hard to conclude other than that our education system has taken a historical nose-dive!

Ha, that's very true.
If I'm not mistaken, he's not even thirty yet, which makes me wonder where his political head will be in ten years' time. Probably still fighting his 'class war' - ¡Viva la revolución comrade!
