A simple 90-second video shows one huge public comment on multiculturalism and mass immigration:

And the BBC get a fright into the bargain. :)

My blood is boiling right now.

Why? Well, there was a Tuskishman on TV speaking about the double passtwort (the SPD demands that it should be possible to hold both the Turkish and the German passport at the same time).

He said something like
Those who worked for this country, toiled for this country, laid down their lives for this country are not allowed to hold it's passport.

First of all: they are allowed to hold the German passport. They just must give up Turkish citizenship.
Second: Well, they chose to come to Germany to work there. Nobody made them. They were paid for that. Why do some expect to be worshiped for that?

... and laid down their lives. I really have no idea what was that about... People holding the Turkish passport must not even serve in our army (unlike for example Russian-Germans who were drafted until recently). I am really puzzled and also a bit shocked that a public TV stations tells me (or lets a Turkish tell me) that the Turkish were giving their lives for me or my country.... + how can a person who laid down his live hold the German passport anyway since he is dead?

A young man in Sheffield complains about mass immigration. Most of the (only 37) comments are in support of his message.

This comment, by someone called "Sheffield Muslim", is curious. I can't tell whether the person is a troll/wind-up merchant:
I think this letter is ignorant and racist. First of all, no one can say this country is theirs other than Allah. Secondly, I feel the British people could do more to help integration. Why do you have to drink alcohol? It is a poison and ruins societies. I believe immigration is improving the mindset of the average Brit. There is now richer culture and communities are better for it. It warms my heart when I see white women wearing the Hijab as it shows how some people are progressing. The Islamic influence here is a true success and foundation for the future of a beautiful halal UK.

What do the grammar, spelling, punctuation, phrases used and general structure (opening, arguments and conclusion laid out in a logical and articulate manner) tell you? Pardon my scepticism about Sheffield Muslim actually being a Muslim and not a middle class white Briton, troll or not.

You know when they profile serial killers and come up with a white male, aged 25-45 in a low level white collar job? That comment was written by a white male, aged 25-45 in a low level white collar job. Everything about it screams middle class white male.

Caleb... It seems so obvious now! It was 4am when I wrote the previous post and my judgement was probably more skew-whiff than usual! ;)

That's why I think it is a complete waste of time properly engaging in newspaper comment sections and forums (apart from this one, of course!): it is so easy for wind-up merchants to have their fun by saying outrageous things to trick people into defending a ridiculous position that you can't take individual posts at all seriously if they are saying things that nobody you know would ever say in real life.

Still, if you can't beat them...:p

Nathan: I agree. I try less and less to engage such people, though I still get caught out at times. The proper response to them seems to be to drop a troll comment of your own and then leave. Yet it is a sad indictment upon modern society when you have to fight fire with fire like that.

Steed wrote:"Remember how society in the UK used to be? Remember when it was basically split by class, but basically everyones aim was broadly the same and everyone thought of themselves of British first and they would put British values first?

It's just a memory now. There are millions of people who put Islam and the spread of it first, and millions of others hell bent on letting them do that. Welcome to your future, one of two societies living side by side in one country - can only end in tears.

Thanks Labour for this, and thanks to the coalition for not doing anything about it."

BeardsleyMcTurbanhead wrote:"I read a quote from a cabinet member this morning claiming that 'the UK stands on the edge of a precipice'. Unfortunately that quote related to the latest set of ludicrous climate change predictions rather than a genuine issue like the islamification of major cities in the UK."

Freerider73 wrote:"The fact indigenous Brits are now speaking out means the underlying current has changed. The recent years of PC crap have gone and they hardened attitudes. We've passed the tipping point and the country is moving towards the right. Our tolerance has been tested. Unfortunately some Muslims and other international entities have thrown our hospitality back in our faces. The British public has had enough, things will change."

parisclaims wrote:"You can shut the schools down, root out the perps, and the problem will remain. The problem is Islam, not radical Islam, Islamism, or any other label, but common or garden Islam. That "faith" is not compatible with freedom, democracy and human rights and should be expelled from our country. The first steps should be to ban halal, sharia, and then to remove its religious status. It's far better to confront the problem now, whilst their numbers are relatively small, than to wait a generation or two when we are in serious danger of becoming a minority in our own country."

Martin Adamson wrote:"What Daniel Hannan does not mention is that Canada has a very strictly selective immigration policy. They are picking skilled individuals who have already shown a degree of success, ambition and desire to assimilate. We in Britain have a policy which creates family or tribal networks of self-selected immigrants from backward, corrupt, underdeveloped failed states. Unsurprisingly to everyone except our political/media/administrative elite, we find that these immigrants bring with them the structures, history, values and motivations that caused their native cultures to fail in the first place."

At that same article...

peter63 wrote:I am sorry, Mrs Daley. You - like almost every current politician in Parliament, and every journalist - do not get it.

A majority of us in the United Kingdom do not want, have never wanted, a multi-racial multicultural society in the first place; and we perceive that the next few years are the make-or-break last opportunity to put a stop to the assumptions upon which this is being 'built' (as a man might raise a castle on a foundation of sand).

We were never ever consulted about large-scale immigration to these small shores when it began after the Second World War; whether in the form of a General Election or a referendum on the subject.

It started off as a conspiracy between Business looking for cheap labour and the Political Parties of the Left looking for voting clienteles.

All along a large majority of us have hated this ludicrously un-thought-out and dangerous experiment.

Your experience of immigration is positive; whether it be your forbears escaping from pogroms in E Europe and making a much better life for themselves in the United States; or your own life-course married to someone from the British Isles and living over here.

What you overlook in singing the virtues of immigration is that you are white, ethnically Jewish, and therefore have an enormous amount in common in terms of cultural assumptions with the host communities your parents and then later yourself went to. The Judaeo-Christian tradition is one tradition. It has the Ten Commandments in common, it respects the rule of law and cherishes the idea of freedom under law, it has produced democracy over the centuries. In ancient time, the Sanhedrin in Judea was - yes - a theocracy but it was a genuinely consultative one, not simply a one-man absolute dictatorship as in effect it is in Iran currently.

Neither your forbears nor you and your husband represent a threat to (first) United States traditional and (then) British values.

But importing millions of Indians, Pakistanis, Bangladeshis, Africans and so on, does put our traditions under real threat.

The people from those cultures do not share the same world-view as white Britons; and in too many cases we see how their alien viewpoint translates into devastating reality; the extreme instances being the London bus and tube bombings of 2007 and the slaughter of Drummer Lee Rigby. But there are lots of other instances: Islamization of schools, Anjem Choudary unarrested for loudly preached hate-crimes and so on and so on.

Your parents did not go to the United States resolute to make that country Russian-speaking and Jewish from coast-to-coast; nor was their arrival there part of an influx so vast that such an upshot became a real possibility.

We have had numbers foisted on us in this little country far exceeding in proportion any influx of immigrants known in our nation's previous history - whether you think of the Huguenots coming over or any other accession of people.

The rise of UKIP is the last chance, other things being equal, for the 70% who don't want all this (it used to be 90%) to say 'No further' to the developments of the past 67 years in this aspect of the national life; and hopefully it will also be an opportunity to make firm ground rules for immigrants' integration in the future.

OTHERWISE the United Kingdom simply will turn into yet another flopperoo of a Third World sinkhole; or we shall have to require all the immigrants of the past quarter-century (at least) to leave."

I've been commenting on a few Telegraph articles recently and sometimes getting best or second-best rated. Sometimes they edit what I write though even if it was no stronger than what we write here.

They just removed one of my comments entirely. This was it:

I wrote:"The only reasons Labour can possibly win the general election are that they imported a voter base from the third world with their demographic replacement programme and they receive votes from the welfare dependents they have nurtured and also from the metro-elite who do not have to live with what the rest of us have to live with.

Another Labour term would likely seal our economic and social doom - but then socialists do not tend to think about this kind of thing, especially the former.

That is why every vote is vital for UKIP to defeat them and save Britain while there is still a chance. I hope Labour keep Ed Miliband, as his obvious incompetence (like Dave's) will greatly assist in this task."

Yet I notice this comment remains:

pretty_polly wrote:"The Labour Party would never 'win' a general election if it was not for three forms of electoral cheating.

1. Labour postal vote fraud.

2. Labour constituency boundary fraud.

3. Labour having filled the country with additional supporters through mass immigration.

Labour, the party of electoral fraud and the destroyers of Britain."

I wonder on what grounds they removed my comment?! It was quite outspoken, but one is entitled to call a politician incompetent, I think, without facing libel trial. As for the demographic replacement programme, a visit to London (or any British city) can hardly refute this.

The DT seems to be plumbing new depths and one wonders how many other comments are being deleted. I wonder if the publication is being leaned now, hard.

It could be simply that someone flagged your comment but nobody has flagged the one from pretty_polly, or at least not yet.

I don't know how much time the DT staff have to trawl through the comments and check them. They do seem to delete things quite arbitrarily, though. I suspect they simply delete anything that is flagged, rightly or wrongly.
