Affirmative action

We have duly criticised "affirmative action" in the feminism subforum and this topic could also be filed under racism against whites, but it is, at root, another form of political correctness, I think. Here's Battlefield 315 video which exposes affirmative action for what it is very well. These videos would be funny if the topics and consequences weren't so serious!

Here's a case of potential "positive discrimination" (at least they got the second word right!) if it is allowed to happen:

Metropolitan Police plans 50% ethnic recruitment

Apparently, under the old system the selection centre "tended to disadvantage people from black and minority ethnic backgrounds", but there's no word on exactly how, just an assertion that it happened.

If you include all the non-British white people living in London, then whites are still something like 58% of the population, but a true equal balance is not good enough; the only fair way is to go from the current 90:10 balance in favour of white people towards ethnic minorities actually being over-represented - presumably regardless of competence and proportional interest levels in joining the police.

Overtly discriminating against people because of the colour of their skin is of course illegal, but seeming as it is for such a good cause, and it's only discriminating largely against the people whose ancestors built and fought for this country anyway, it should be possible to find a way to get round that.

It's such a drastic shift in numbers, and so contrived, and so far against anybody's idea of fairness, or meritocracy, or the shifting public mood on such matters that it would just have to cause huge levels of tension and distrust within the force. Still, something has to be the straw that breaks the camel's back...

Could it be, just possibly, that ethnic minorities constitute 55% of the London population but only 10% of the police force, because they don't feel much loyalty to Britain?

All affirmative legislation attacks whites in general and white men in particular. This is yet another shameful example. The reality is that any police officer you speak with informally in a situation of trust will - somewhere round about the end of the sevond pint - confirm that racial profiling is simply intelligent policing.

I'm afraid that what you say is true, and I would urge anyone who thinks it is "racist" to consider that the truth cannot be racist and the day it is deemed so we will be living in a totalitarian state. Unduly pro "minority" legislation (quotas and so on) is, by the same token, actually discriminatory against the others, who are in this case indeed white males - the same people who built this country.

Further, on people considering the truth to be racist, if the Chief Constable of the Metropolitan Police were to announce that most shootings and knife crime in London are, disproportionately, committed by black people, this would not be racist either, but simply true, and therefore something that particular community should try to address. Telling the truth according to all available evidence must not be allowed to be called racist. Nor must telling the truth about the fact than Islam is incompatible with civilised society be able to be called "hate speech" either. That way lies a 1984 society. Don't blame the messengers. We have no foregone conclusions and we will back up everything we say with evidence.

To add to what I just said above, I probably over-emphasised even the truth point. Indeed if someone wanted to say that most knife crime in London was committed by whites, or that Chinese were generally better at basketball than blacks, I believe they should be allowed to say so without people getting worked up and rioting ensuing (and in these cases it wouldn't). They would just look silly since they wouldn't be able to prove it. We can't be held ransom to PC.

Some victories for common sense in the U.S. and against the "people of color" nonsense.
