How to quote text in your posts

Postby Gavin » 13 Mar 2012, 09:58

I have been adjusting the quote formatting a little on the site. To quote text from anywhere:

  1. First of all leave a blank line after your last paragraph.
  2. Then paste your text.
  3. Then, with your text selected, click the Quote button on the editor toolbar.
  4. Then, leave another blank line below this before continuing your post.
This will mean formatting is correct.

To quote from another post, you can do the same as the above, but insert the poster's name as follows: [quote="Gavin"].

Any problems, please private message me.

Just a note - when you format the quote as above, that's what makes it appear like this:

Gavin wrote:Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipisicing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua. Ut enim ad minim veniam, quis nostrud exercitation ullamco laboris nisi ut aliquip ex ea commodo consequat.

Although, sadly, there is not much chance of me writing that!

The forum also supports embedded quotations - quotations within quotations - to one level.
